FAQ

  • How old can puppies be before they leave their mom?
We keep puppies with their moms until the pups are 8 weeks old. This ensures they are fully weaned, and get extra time to spend and learn from their moms. By state law, puppies can go to their new homes at 6 weeks of age. However, we believe that puppies benefit greatly from staying with their mom for an extended period of time. During these two extra weeks, the puppies learn important socialization skills from their mother and siblings, such as bite inhibition and proper play behavior. Additionally, staying with their mom for a longer period of time can help prevent separation anxiety and other behavioral issues that may arise later in life. They also receive additional care and attention from our experienced team, helping to ensure that they are healthy and well socialized before going to their forever homes. We want our puppies to have the best start in life possible, and we believe that keeping them with their mom for an extra 2 weeks is an important step in achieving that goal.
  • What vaccinations and medications do your puppies receive?
At Luxury Litters of NC, we prioritize the health and well-being of our puppies. That's why we ensure that our puppies receive the necessary vaccinations and medications. Our puppies receive their first set of vaccinations by a licensed veterinarian at 6 weeks old, which includes a distemper, parvo, and adenovirus shot. All vaccinations and health checks are given by a licensed veterinarian. Additionally, our puppies receive worming medicine at 2, 3, 4, 6, and 8 weeks old to prevent any potential health issues. We also provide you with a record of the vaccinations and medications that your puppy has received, so you can continue their care with your veterinarian. At Luxury Litters of NC, we are committed to providing you with a healthy and happy puppy.
  • Do you microchip your puppies?
Yes, we microchip all of our puppies before they go to their new homes. This is important for a few reasons. Firstly, it provides a permanent form of identification for your dog. If your dog were to get lost, a veterinarian or animal shelter could scan the chip and find your contact information, allowing for a safe and speedy return home. Additionally, microchipping is a requirement for some forms of travel, such as international flights or certain states with different regulations. We believe that microchipping is a responsible and necessary step in ensuring the safety and well-being of our puppies. We take the responsibility of breeding and raising puppies seriously, and we want to make sure our puppies are always safe and protected.
